Our next concert is Together We Sing! It features music by Rachel Portman, who is an Academy Award winner for her score for the film Emma, Anton Bruckner, Morten Lauridsen, Gabriel Fauré, Randall Thompson and more. Since we first began singing as a Chorus over 40 years ago we have performed our main concerts in St Andrew and St Cuthman, Steyning and this concert takes place on Saturday 6th June 2026 at 7.30 pm.
This summer’s concert takes its title from Rachel Portman’s and Nick Drake’s The Gathering Tree, written for Last Night of the Proms in 2025. The programme features a wide range of works which explore ideas of togetherness, hope, kindness, joy and renewal in all their forms, shapes and disguises from Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine to Caldwell Ivory’s Aint No Grave Can Hold My Body Down by way of Bruckner’s Locus Iste and Tin’s“Hope” is a Thing with Feathers Rain together with a guest appearance by a talented, prize-winning, local young flautist.
